“The first step to eternal life is you have to die.”
Larry Gelbart becomes the history at the age of 81 on Friday. He spent his 81 years in this world and established himself as a writer.
He was a writer with many awards on his name. Larry Gelbart, whose crafty, scornful humor helped produce such hits as Broadway’s “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” the films “Tootsie”, “Oh, God!” and television’s “M-A-S-H,” is no more in this world.
He was suffering from cancer and faced a long fight with cancer. He was at his home at Beverly Hills on Friday when he lost his battle of life.
Pet Golbart, his 53 years old wife didn’t tell the type of cancer he had. She said while spending major part of life together “we finished each other’s sentences”
She states that it was obviously expected; due to the cancer we’ve known that. What the outcome would be, we didn’t clear on it. They were already prepared for this sad demise.
“It wasn’t a surprise. He had cancer, we’ve known that. We didn’t know what the outcome would be, the result, whatever. And so here we are and we were sort of prepared for this and it’s sufficient to be proficient to be ingenious and go onward.
Gelbart was nominated two times for Oscar award. He would likely to be remembered for his ling running TV program about the Army doctors during the Korean war. He also won an Emmy for “M-A-S-H”, a Tony for “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”.
The gap created by his absence may not be filled even within decades.
May his soul rest in peace.
