Larry Sultan, the fine art photographer died due to Cancer at his home. The New York Timer has reported that Larry Sultan found dead on 13th December 2009 at his house in California. Larry Sultan was 63 years old.
Larry Sultan was born in 1946 in New York; he rose up in San Fernando Valley and earned his degree from Francisco Art institute in 1973. Larry Sultan was a fine art photographer with quite a different methodology; he always works on the pictures from critic’s point of view.
Evidence, a combination of de contextualized and appropriated photographs about government archives, industry and business were published by Larry Sultan with Mike Mandel in 1977. They raised their point through evidence that its all about context, the meaning is always derived from a human perception.
Larry Sultan’s entire career based on more then 30 years was all about amassing photos with revealing reality and illusion. Later on as he gets in deeply he extended his art work to investigate the illusion and myths in the kingdom of sexual fantasy. In 2004 he published The Valley focusing on sex and pornography
Sultans’ best art work ever was the fake look of theatrical situation, a personal style constituent with oblique genuineness of his portrayed scenes.
Larry Sultan, another great artist left the world silently, he will be remembered for his work, and it’s a fact that whatever he did either family, home photography, cinema pornography, he has played his vital role in deconstructing the myths of things.
