One of the family members of the Manson family members who were involved in the 1969 killing spree in Los Angeles has been making news again. One of the family members Susan Denise Atkins has died this Thursday in Central California Women Facility in Chowchilla. The Manson family members included; Susan Atkins, Leslie van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Charles “Tex” Watson. The Manson family killed seven people in two days killing spree which terrorized the entire Los Angeles. Susan Atkins was involved in the murder of young actress Sharon Tate. Susan killed Sharon Tate in her house and then scrawled the word ‘Pig’ all over the walls of her house. Susan was 21-years-old at that time. She also killed three of the Sharon’s houseguest who were present in her house at the time of her murder. The three houseguests included Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring and Voytek Frykowski. She also killed a teenager who was visiting the caretaker of the Sharon’s house in the backside cottages.
The Manson family which included Susan Atkins, Leslie van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Charles “Tex” Watson were all sentenced to death but when the US Supreme Court changed the death laws, their death sentence changed to lifetime imprisonment automatically. Susan was convicted for the death of Sharon while other family members were convicted with five other deaths in the area. Leslie van Houten was convicted for two murders.
Susan Atkins was diagnosed with brain cancer while she was imprisoned in the jail. In May 2008, her husband wrote on the website about her increased illness and wrote that she has been paralyzed due to the disease and her 85 percent body is affected with the paralyzing. Susan also gave birth to a son which was taken away from her as no one in her family was willing to raise him. Susan died on Thursday morning, September 24.
