Maria Verchenova

Maria Verchenova the new face of women golf pro. She was born in Moscow, Russia on March 27, 1986. The 23 year old Maria Verchenova from Moscow, Russia was introduced to golf in Czech Republic by her father while on a holiday, but the lack of Golf courses in her country did not hold her back as matter of fact only three gold courses were available in the country.

Maria Verchenova is to golf what Maria Sharapova is to tennis. Maria Verchenova becomes the first Russian woman to turn out to be a full-time member of the Ladies’ European Tour. In the year 2007 which suppose to be her rookie year she finished in top 10 in Ladies’ European Tour in Wales but before coming to Europe she won the “Russian Amateur Championship” in 2004.

At the “Dubai Ladies Masters” Maria Verchenova once again proved herself and took another step forward and close to success when she broke into the top 5 and competed with Annika Sorenstam for the lead. During her journey of success she is not only proving herself to the world as a pro golfer but she is also becoming a role model for other Russian girls, especially her younger sister Anna.

Maria Verchenova admits Maria Sharapova is a young beautiful girl and a tennis star and for many she is a role model, but she is obstinate about the reasons.

Now the latest about Maria Verchenova is that “Ladies’ European Tour” is moving to Golf Gerre Losone in Ticino and so is she for the Deutsche Bank Swiss Open. “Deutsche Bank Swiss Open” this event is the first full field event of the season.

Many of the critics say that she is just getting attention because of her model look to prove them wrong Maria Verchenova has her sights set on the “Women’s British Open” tournament late this year.
