According to the details, Marry Douglass Glasspool has been elected by the Los Angeles Episcopalians as bishop of the Episcopal Church. The voting was conducted on late Saturday and the results showed that the church goers have voted for the 55-year-old Mary Glasspool who is openly lesbian. She is the first gay bishop who has been elected since the church lifted the ban which refrains gay and lesbian from appointment in any post in the church. The ban was lifted after the church decided to end the agreement which was made to keep the Anglican community together. The Anglican communion, which has 77 million member denomination around the world, have opposed the appointment of gay bishops. The head of the Anglican Communion, the archbishop of Canterbury, stated in a comment to Glasspool’s election that this election has raised ‘very serious questions’ for the Episcopal Church.
