Matthew Hoh, the most important US official has resigned from his duties as a protest against the Obama administration’s policies for the war on terror in Afghanistan. Matthew Hoh is one of the senior Foreign Service officers for US. He communicated his grievances to US Government though a lengthy letter of four pages. He addressed the letter to the Nancy Powell, the Director General of Foreign Service at the State Department of United States.
The 36 years old US official addressed his reservations and doubts about the steps planned by the US Government in the letter. He said the lives sacrificed by the US soldiers seemed wasted as nothing has changed and the resources which are consumed to help the Afghanistan Government in war against terror also got no significance.
Matthew Hoh also served in Iraq for six years as Marine Corps Captain and then he served the department of defense as civilian.
Matthew Huh told the media that he also decided to communicate with the people of United States. He said he will ask the people to call their concerned congressmen and told them they are doing the wrong thing.
The reports also revealed that the US Ambassador for Afghanistan Karl W Eikenberry and the special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke also tried to convince him to change his decision but Matthew refused to do so.
The decision taken by the Matthew turned into another setback for Obama administration. They definitely have to review the plan again as the criticism is getting stronger and stronger day by day on Obama’s Government.
