It is obvious now that the fourth of May is the day that has been designated for the Star Wars fans but what makes me think a little more about it is this: did the producers and script writers know that the much used sentence “May the force be with you.” would eventually turn out to become a day of the year where the movie is remembered? Well regardless of them knowing or not such is the case as you will find your Star Wars fanatic buddies all use the term ‘May the fourth be with you’ as a joke. Over time and the excessive use of the sentence ‘May the fourth be with you’ the joke tends to lose its punch but it hasn’t died out as yet as people are searching the internet like mad when it comes to what this sentence means.
The force is a term used in the Star Wars movies throughout their sequels as an energy that Jedi masters can manipulate to their own advantage but the problem is that if a person with the wrong intentions learns how to use the force then it becomes more of a lethal weapon that can be used to brainwash people or strangle them just by thinking about it – as is shown in one of the Star Wars movies in which Darth Vader strangles one of his fleet officials over a disagreement.
So when Obi Wan goes to Yoda, master of the force, to learn the ways of the Jedi he is confronted with a green midget who speaks funny and Obi Wan thinks that its a joke but by the end of it Yoda is successful in teaching Obi Wan the ways of the Jedi after which he says “May the force be with you” and that sentence is repeated a number of times. So now it has turned into ‘May the fourth be with you’ and we all know what the reference is behind it.
