A huge controversy was sparked in the Indian parliament as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh was gifted with a Mayawati Garland that went into hundreds and thousands of rupees. The minister, who was conducting her rally, caused many opposition leaders to comment and probe an inquiry into where all the money came from to decorate the Mayawati Garland with thousand rupee notes like they were pieces of paper.
The worth of the Mayawati Garland was estimated between two point one million rupees and a hundred and fifty million rupees. Now the department of income tax has been urged to probe into the matter and determine the source of the money while opposition parties are calling her the daughter of wealth as compared to her previous title of being a daughter of a well respected man.
The rally by the BSP leader was being held to celebrate the parties twenty-five year silver jubilee but it only ended up adjourning the LokSabha. The leader of the congress expressed his view that she was moving further away from being a representative of the common man while the spokesperson for the BSP party, which was under fire, told reporters and relevant parties that the garland did not exceed the amount of two point one million rupees. He said that it had been gifted to her by the local BSP party members by adding little contributions. Though all these claims about the true worth of the garland have been forwarded, rumor was still afloat that the actual worth of the garland was more than just that.
