Mel Brooks the legendry American actor, director, composer, screenwriter, comedian and producer was born in 1926 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mel Brooks known for his unconventional, madcap and irreverent sense of humour received fair share of fame for creating broad film farces and comic parodies. His name stands in the short list of those entertainers who devoted their lives to performing arts and won Tony, Oscar, Emmy and Grammy awards. The most interesting thing about the life achievements of Mel Brooks is that three of his movies Young Frankenstein, Blazing saddles and The Producers still stand tall in Top 20 on the U.S film institute’s list of Top 100 comic movies of all times.
The latest achievement of Mel Brooks’s life is that he recently has won the 32nd Annual Kennedy Centre Honours for lifetime contributions to U.S culture through the performing arts.
Joining the list with Mel Brooks are singer Grace Bumbry, rock musician Bruce Springsteen, jazz musician Dave Brubeck and last but not least actor Robert DeNiro as the inductees for 32nd Annual Kennedy Centre Honours.
Caroline Kennedy was the host of the 2 hour ceremony that was aired on CBS yesterday on December 29. President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden also attended the ceremony.
Mel Brooks first married Florence Baum in 1951, they separated ten years later in 1961 and both had three children. In 1964 Mel Brooks married actress Anne Bancroft, both stayed together until the death of Academy Award winning actress, who was diagnosed with uterine cancer and died in 2005. They had a son Max, who was born in 1972.
