Nine of the candidate for mayor square-off, for the first time answering tough questions and dodging distractions, some familiar faces sat on the panel tonight all of them hope to be the next mayor of Memphis.
The Special elections that will held on 15th October to determine the next mayor a 90-minute debate among the candidate was aired yesterday on local channel 5, candidates participated in yesterday nights debate were A.C. Wharton, Robert Hodges, Sharon Webb, Jerry Lawler, Charles Carpenter, Wanda Halbert, Carol Chumney and Myron Lowery.
Attorney and mayoral candidate Charles Carpenter introduced a crime plan on Wednesday that drew an insensitive response from Memphis Police Director Larry Godwin.
Candidate A.C. Wharton showed another side as candidates traded harsh words during the debate, heat also went to the city Myron Lowery whose month as an intern mayor is a chance for him to prove his delectability, and what would a Memphis debate be without Prince Mongo to setup his run for office.
However, it is interesting to know that none of these candidates are official until after next week’s filing deadline, so this debate came awfully early, but if you saw the debate you will feel that all these candidates have already put of their gloves and they are ready to fight.
