Meredith Baxter’s interview on “Today” show was shocking and totally opposite to her image as TV Mom. Her full name has been Meredith Baxter Birney but she no longer uses Birney with her name after being separated with the actor David Birney. The interview started with Matt asking her about what she wanted to reveal and Meredith Baxter dropped the bombshell that she is an active lesbian. She discussed her life with her three husbands and her five children. She admitted that she made mistakes while choosing her life partners but that its not all their fault and as she has discovered about her homosexual tendencies, she now knows how those difficulties in marriages arose. She told that she has been on a cruise with 1200 lesbians. Then came the difficult question about her children and how are they taking her discovery about herself. She told that she is absolutely blessed to have such an understanding family members. She told about her son, how he made her comfortable as she revealed the truth to him. She said that she had to tell the truth as she wanted to feel comfortable and not so secretive all the time.
I absolutely loved her remarks when she assured everyone who knows her that she being a homosexual does not at all change the person she is and that she is still Meredith Baxter with all the qualities that made her dear and near to her friends.
She was very well composed during the whole interview. Even when she had to answer difficult questions about her family life and how her children are going to react, she didn’t for a second seem confused or taken away.
