The 61st Emmy Awards held last night at Los Angeles. The award show was one star-studded event with celebrities from both small screen and big screen attending the event. Emmy 2009 made some exceptional yet well-deserved award nominations this year. This year’s nominations for supporting role included our very own Michael Emerson from the very famous television series Lost. Michael Emerson won the award for best supporting actor and he truly deserved it.
Michael Emerson had been nominated for this award for last three years at Emmy’s for his much-loved character in Lost. Michael Emerson has been playing the role of Ben Linus as a quasi-villain. Michael Emerson lost the award in last two Emmys but won the award at Emmy 2009 last night. Earlier, critics also chose him for’ Who will Win’.
Michael Emerson had a competition with William Hurt and Aaron Paul. William Hurt has start power and speculations were made that he might win the award while Aaron Paul is a new, emerging star who has made a large fan following by his performances in Breaking Bad.
The drama round at the Emmy kicked off with Michael Emerson’s category. Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J announced the name of the winner. A very happy Emerson kissed his wife and appeared on the stage. In his award acceptance speech, Michael Emerson called his character an ‘actor’s dream’. He said,’ One day I flew to Hawaii to do a guest spot, and four years later it’s become the role of a lifetime’.
It was Michael Emerson’s second Emmy Award.
