Oxford English Dictionary is at odds to coin a word describing Mikhail Prokhorov. At best the word describing him is “self made” but self made is such a little and insufficient word for his accomplishments reaching mammoth heights. Russia’s richest person and certainly “most eligible bachelor” worldwide. The list of firsts doesn’t stop here – Mikhail Prokhorov is the first non Canadian to have bought NBA team, this time New Jersey Nets.
Having built his empire for turning Norilsk Nickel around he no longer owns the company and has instead invested heavily in the Nano materials applicable to energy generation and pharmaceuticals. The real caveat in the Norilsk Nickel deal is that he has kept the gold mining division with the name Polyus Gold with a net worth of US$ 8.5 billion to himself.
He is also well known for his lavish or extravagant life style. Once alleged of providing prostitutes to the guests at a resort in French Alps in 2007, he was never convicted or can he be!? Having known for travelling world-wide in his private plane with beauties, Mikhail Prokhorov’s most recent interest is to construct a new building in Brooklyn.
A fitting ornament to his tale is Russian President’s order to grant STATE HONOUR to Prokhorov in 2006. He is at 40th number on Forbes richest list.
