Being bullied or hazed during early years of life could leave dramatic effects on one’s psychology. Thus it is a night mare for parents to see their children being bullied by others at school. A recent incident in America’s one of the best high schools has stirred the issue among concerned parents who were outraged when they got to know that seniors at the school are maltreating their children. At Millburn High School, senior girls have been following a tradition of compiling a ‘slut list’ every year which contains the names of freshman girls of the school along with a vulgar description of their character. It was surprising to see something like this coming from a school of as high prestige as Millburn’s. Millburn High School has been listed one of the top 200 schools in America by Newsweek. Many families move to New Jersey to get their children enrolled at this school. However, the senior students at the school have been following a spiteful tradition of making a list of names every year to bully the freshman girls. According to the news, the seniors at the school make a list of freshman girls at the end of their first term. The list, which is called the ‘slut list’, holds the names of newly enrolled girls along with offensive description of their character. The list has caused social embarrassment to many as it gets circulated in the entire school and gives other people opportunity to mock the listed girls.
The school administration refused to talk about it. However, the school superintendent sent an email to the students stating that the school will not bear any activity by any student in its premises which ‘threatens’ or ‘degrades’ other students.
