Monty Stratton who is better known as “Gander” was originally named Monte Franklin Pierce Stratton and was born on the twenty-first day of May in the year 1912 in the city of Celeste which lies in the north eastern region of the state Texas. The city in which he was born is based on no more than point eight square miles and in the year 2000, according to a census taken in that time, had a population of just eight hundred and seventeen people.
Monty Stratton was a Major League player who was best known for his pitching abilities. He started his career playing for the Chicago White Sox during the years 1934 to 1938 and played a total of four hundred and eighty-seven point one innings in which he achieved an amazing one hundred and ninety-six strikeouts. In the year 1938 something really devastating happened to Monty Stratton which took him out from the baseball career for good. It was unfortunate that he had to go through that trauma which was caused by a bullet shot from his own holstered gun after he fell on it triggering it to shoot him in his right leg. In the accident, a major artery of his was damaged to the extent that his whole leg had to be amputated.
Monty Stratton made his first debut game on the second day of June for the White Sox in the year 1934 and soon enough made it to the American League All-Star squad. Monty Stratton lived a long life even after his mishap and died at the age of seventy in Greenville, Texas on the twenty-ninth day of September in the annum 1982.
