Mosier fire has grown to over 800 acres by Friday night, Oregon Department of Forestry said that a voluntary evacuation of the town is under way; the population for this area is around 500 residents. Everyone in the air and on the ground, from fire-fighters to chopper pilots is trying to keep this wild blaze from reaching their small town of Columbia River Gorge.
Officials with fire department worries that if gusty winds started blowing it can be devastating because winds can change thing pretty quickly, town of Mosier is without electricity, the electricity was cut off by the blaze that started near microwave towers on Thursday night and now is grown over 800 acres.
Over 150 fire-fighters from several different areas like Clackamas, Clatsop, Multnomah Umatilla counties and other, are fighting to contain the wild blaze, but up thill this point it seems like nothing is working.
According to the reports officials said that the cause of the fire has not been discovered yet, fire chief Jeff Pricher have ordered 12 local residents to abandon their homes, but many have chosen to stay behind and fight.
One air tanker and two helicopters are assisting the fir-fighters on the ground, air tanker dropped fire-retardant, whereas choppers are dropping water on the fire. Fire crews present at the scene are from local fire district, Oregon department of Forestry and from United States Forest Service.
