Michelle Obama was looking stunning and yet very graceful. Something we have forgotten since the Jacky Kennedy days. She was wearing a cream colored sequined, strapless gown with matching bangles and ear rings. She was all set to host her first state dinner given in honor of the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur. The choice of dress designer was in itself a very significant one. The dress was designed by Indian born designer Naeem Khan and the dress took three weeks to be prepared in India. Naeem Khan had told Larry King that he wanted to come up with something that would look very Indian and yet very glamorous and he was every bit successful. Obviously Naeem Khan was given the task to send a very subtle message to Indians that their traditions have been taken into account.
Naeem Khan is Indian born with a family background in textiles. He moved to U.S and got trained at Halston. Starting in 2003 he is quickly becoming the Fashion Diva of Hollywood. His resume is already very impressive having designed the dresses for Celebrities like Queen Noor of Jordan, Jeniffer Lopez and Beyonce. Designs employing sequins, beads and special embroidery are hallmarks of Naeem Khan. His skills have been showcased in many popular magazines like People, Life & Style, In Touch, Glamour and “O”.
Meanwhile Naeem Khan has done his job well and definitely has added a jewel to his achievements.
