Kobe Bryant must be in a state of bliss right now as he was awarded the NBA Player of the Decade award today. The NBA Player of the Decade award is considered to be one of the highest awards a professional basketball player could aspire for. The NBA Player of the Decade award is an award that is granted every ten years to the player that the most fans vote for.
Kobe Bryant ,who has been playing basketball since the annum 1996 when we was first selected in the 1996 NBA draft, was given the position of shooting guard for the Charlotte Hornets. On the first of July in the same year he was traded with the lakers’ Vlade Divac who played as a center for the lakers. Since then Kobe Bryant has been playing for the lakers alongside Shaquille O’ Neal. Kobe Bryant was only seventeen years old when the lakers traded Divac for Bryants’ draft rights and his parents had to sign the contract since he had not reached the legal age of signing his own contracts by then.
The order in which the players came for the NBA Player of the Decade award was astonishing to some critics as Shaquille O’ Neal came in third place and led Charles Barkley to assume that the fans had no idea about who was really worthy of the award.
Kenny smith, though in agreement with Charles, said that Kobe had given an outstanding performance from the mid to the end of the decade which is probably why he got the award.
