The book comprises the notes which a six years old girl who had been diagnosed brain cancer left behind. The book is collection of his self-expressions how she felt at different times. Although she was a six years old child yet she had the sense of privacy for her expressions. Perhaps her notes were not meant to express herself but to have an emotional catharsis only by herself.
The book stimulates the emotional chords of the readers especially of parents who can feel the pain the parents of the child might have gone through. The interesting thing about the notes is that she hid the notes and the parents went on collecting them from different locations e.g. within the pages of books, from her school bag, from the kitchen cabinet. The parents compiled the notes for their younger daughter to tell her how her elder sister felt about them. The drawings contained the intensity of love she had for her parents and sister as she made and pasted the drawings with the caption “I love you” on every wall. Her parents converted the collection of these notes in to a diary with the title “Notes Left Behind” which has been offered for sale in the U.S. this week.
The parents have decided to give the sale-proceeds to the charity organization which has been established to commemorate her battle against cancer. There are thousands of such notes but some notes are sealed in envelop. The parents have never opened them in order to revive her memory in future with a renewed depth of love.
