Some terrible news for the fans of hip hop in Japan and even more so for those who knew him all to well but didn’t get to spend enough time with him as a hip hop maestro was confirmed dead recently. Though the confirmation of his death has just recently come the actual incident that took claimed Nujabes dead took place in the month of February, to be exact he died on the twenty-sixth day of last month. The incident that took his life was a car accident in the congested city of Tokyo where he was exiting the Metropolitan Expressway. Nujabes dead story comes as another shock to the fans of Samurai Champloo, the amazingly brilliant animation that got its background music, at least parts of it, from Nujabes.
His real name, the one that was given to him at birth by his parents, was Jun Seba and it could only be the work of a creative mind to flip it backwards to spell the name Nujabes. A close friend of him tells us that he was kind of the extreme introvert and had little interaction with the outside world, so much so that his death wasn’t even acknowledged till the facts were confirmed. Now that Nujabes dead at an age of thirty-six a lot of his friends and followers are going to be shocked at the unexpected news.
Nujabes was an owner of two record stores and one would think that at least the employees of the store would know about the death but such wasn’t the case, further solidifying the notion that he was indeed quite a hermit when it came to being social.
