The official time around the country has been changed and will now be one hour behind of the normal time which means that all clocks will be turned one hour ahead of whatever time they showed previously. The official time was changed at two o’ clock today in the morning when many of you were either out partying or fast asleep in bed. The time has been changed to bring national energy consumption down by using more of the daylight hours that the spring and summer provide.
When spring comes the days get longer that means that there are more hours of light in the day and the official time is changed so that more can be made out of the longer days in terms of energy costs. With the time change, nothing but the time changes but by doing so a lot of electricity is saved from being used as offices close during daylight and there is not much consumption commercially and industrially as factories and offices use less lights to light up the work places and even at homes the lights are turned on at a later hour which means overall lesser consumption.
The exact figures of how much energy is saved every year through this measure is unknown as it varies from year to year according to economic activity but the amount is significant enough to make a large enough impact on the use of fossil fuels and natural resources which are used to run the power plants that provide electricity around America. The terms of saving come with the lesser import bills of diesel, natural gas and petroleum and the government’s import bill is reduced drastically.
