The Ohio Supreme Court has dismissed the petition against the rate increase by an American Electric Power.
Several bodies were against the decision that was approved in March this year.
The decision was taken a few hours back.
It was quite a difficult and complicated decision to increase the rates. It was not liked by the number of companies when the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio decided to increase the rates for three years. They faced strong critics form several organizations.
The late decision of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to increase the price facilitated the decision of the court.
The spokesman for the Office of the Ohio Consumers Counsel named Ryan Lippe suggested that the decision was against their expectation and it was very disappointing to take such kind of decision for them but he also said that they will keep on working for the protection of the interests of residential consumers.
The decision was taken in the morning by the Supreme Court of Ohio, so the rates will be intact until any other strategy introduced by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio or any other legal action.
The Ohio Supreme Court is the most powerful and uppermost court in US State of Ohio. It has the authority as final and last decision maker, keeping in view the constitution of Ohio and law interpretations of Ohio. The Supreme court of Ohio is comprises of seven members, as six associate Justices and a Chief Justice.
