Ohio University is a public university. It is located in the city of Athens in Ohio. It was established in 1804.It is among the oldest universities in the State. It is spread across eighteen hundred acres. It was ranked one hundred and fifteen in their undergraduate programs among the national universities by the United States news and World Report. The first students from the Ohio University graduated in 1815.The University also opened a different department called the College of Osteopathic Medicine. It was the one and only college to provide degree in medicine studies in the state. The university has made a name in their visual communication department as well as engineering.
They also established an Avionics Center in1963.today the university has many departments such as the college of arts, college of Business, college of education, college of medicine and international studies. The University has also established 5 campuses in the region located in Chilliothe, Eastern, Zanesville, Lancaster and Ironton. The university students are known for their large number of scholarships every year. They received national scholarships such as the Fulbright scholarship and the Goldwater Scholarship.
The department of visual communication of the Ohio University is quite famous and includes majors in Photojournalism, magazine, editorial design, commercial photography, multimedia and graphics. The University has produced a number of professional athletes. The athletic team of the university is known as Bobcats. The Ohio University students won after a match at the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament with Georgetown. The team took the victory on 18th March Thursday.
