Some strange occurrences happening around the country recently and Chicago seems to be the center of it all where in a day there were two suicides. The first one took place a little after eight in the morning yesterday when Phil Pagano who had been serving as the Executive director of Metra Trains in Chicago killed himself by standing on a railway track deliberately while a train made its way to where he stood. He died instantaneously and it was related to corruption charges against him which were placed when the board of Metra discovered that he had given himself a 56,000 dollar bonus.
The second suicide was the one everyone is referring to as the Old Navy shooting which took place at the Old Navy outlet in downtown Chicago’s Loop Retail corridor. The Old Navy shooting involved a man who was the friend of a female employee at the store. The employee had taken him to the basement where only employees are allowed and no one knows what transpired there but there were two gunshots and the first one was the one that took the woman’s life whereas the second one was when the shooter pointed the gun on himself and took his own life.
Both the male and the female killed in the Old Navy shooting were in their twenties and we do not know what happened to cause such a tragic incident. Following the Old Navy shooting the police made it to the scene of the incident and all the customers were evacuated.
