Ottavia Busia came into limelight as the second wife of Anthony Bourdain – san American author and chef, famous for his 2000 book, Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. He is also the host of Travel Channel’s culinary program Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. Ottavia is of Italian origin and once worked at the restaurant Geisha. It is remarkable that couple married after the 11 days of the birth of their first child, Ariane in 2007. The birth of Ariane surprised Bourdain’s mother Gladys as he had promised her that he would never have children!
Anthony Bourdain was once a cocaine addict, he eventually got rid of drugs and started working as chef in restaurants like Supper Club, One Fifth, Pino Luongo’s Coco Pazzo Teatro, Sullivan’s, and finally Les Halles. Bourdain has long been criticized that he never really worked for any elite restaurant and he never was a chef, moreover his insider view of the kitchens is overly exaggerated. Despite these accusations Bourdain has earned himself a place in the ranks of celebs. He travels around the world in lieu of his show on Travel Channel. He remained a chain smoker till 2007 and attributes quitting the habit to the birth of daughter Ariane.
Bourdain openly opposed vegetarians, animal rights activists, foie gras opponents, smoking abolitionists. Though his show is a hit, it has never been able to get the status of highest rated show neither FOX TV’s efforts to turn his book into a Drama has materialized.
Hopefully Ottavia’s entry into his life would help him get rid of demons that have dogged him for so long. He has publicly admitted the positive change that Ariane has bring into his life.
