A sad yet glorified story of a Hollywood legend, August 8th, 2010, turned to be the last day of Patricia Neal. Her health had been a problem from the beginning and she had died because of her last illness, Lung Cancer.
Patricia Neal is an academy award winning actress. She had also done some work on stage plays, but she is mostly renowned for her work in movies. She won an Oscar for the ‘best Actress” for playing her role as Alma Brown in the 1960s movie ‘Hud’ also featuring Paul Newman. She had a very glorified career as an actress and has won numerous award including Tonys and Golden Globes.
Although her career jump started in 1940s from Broadway which her success in Hollywood, her life was constantly battling with tragedies. She was known to have a love situation with Gary Cooper who left her, and Patricia Neal was left heartbroken. She was known to be truly in love with him but he left and that crushed her. Then her life took a turn and she met the famous English writer Raold Dahl, whom she later married. Her acting career was going fabulous after the success of “A Face in the Crowd” but yet another tragedy took her. Her toddler son Theo who’s stroller got hit by a cab leaving him with brain damage, then her daughter died of brain inflammation after having measles, Olivia was only seven.
No matter how hard life had been, Patricia Neal was content with what she had and loved her humble life in the country with her family, and away from all the glim glam of Hollywood. She died peacefully and with no regrets.
