Rail service has been restored at Penn Station, New York after a three-hour delay.
We have just received the latest updates on electricity outages which halted train movements at Penn Station, New York. According to the updates, which have arrived just a few minutes ago, the electricity in New Jersey has been restored. The announcement has been made by Amtrak spokesperson, Cliff Cole, who told that the power connection was re-established around 11:30 in the morning.
According to the details, an electrical problem occurred in the northern region of New Jersey on Wednesday which halted the rail service at Penn Station, New York. All incoming and outgoing trains were unable to move from Penn Station, New York due to the power outages. The inactive trail service made thousands of commuters and travelers stranded at the Penn Station of New York.
The power was restored after a delay of three hours. The power outage disrupted several rail services on Amtrak, New Jersey Transit, and Long Island Railroad lines. The electricity outages were first reported around 8:45 a.m. The technical crew started working on the problem to restore the power. The causes of the problem were not known immediately.
The power outages affected thousands of holiday travelers as the ridership into Penn Station is around 81,000 on any normal day. All in and out trains were unable to move from the Penn Station, New York. The power outages affected rail services as far as Washington in the south and as far as Boston in the north.
Though rail service is active now, huge delays are expected in the arrival and departure of trains from Penn Station, New york.
