The spokesmen of Kanakuk have responded over the accusations made by the police about a former director. According to the reports, the chief operation officer has responded today about the allegations made about Pete Newman, one of the former directors of the Kanakuk Kamp. He said that the news was very sad and made the authorities concerned. He also said that he has deepest sympathies with the victim families. The chief operational officer also mentioned that the employees at Kanakuk Kamp are hired after being investigated about their background and great care has been taken to ensure appropriate behavior from the Kamp members towards the young students who come here.
These comments were made by the chief operational officer of Kanakuk Kamp when Taney County Attorney charged a former executive of Kanakuk for being involved in sex crimes against young boys. Pete Newman, one of the former directors of Kanakuk, has been accused of being involved in illicit sex crimes against teen-aged boys. He has been charged with two counts of misconduct with a boy aged 15. Newman was employed in Christian-Values sports camp named Kanakuk Kamp and he served the camp as a director. Pete Newman’s tenure ended in spring last year. He is 33.
A letter was also sent by the camp owner, Joe, to the parents stating that he and his colleagues understand the difficulty of the situation and that the employees at Kanakuk and its students is like a family. He also said that Kanakuk authorities will take actions to prevent any such incident to happen again in the future
