The Philips Arena which was built at a total cost of two hundred and thirteen million dollars just a little more than a decade ago in the annum 1999. The Philips Arena is based in Atlanta Georgia and is an indoors arena home to the Atlanta Thrashers which is the local Hockey team. Apart from being home to the hockey team it is also home to the Atlanta Hawks for male and the Atlanta Dreams for females Basketball teams.
The Philips Arena has a total seating area of just a little less than twenty thousand people though the seating is decreased by the capacity of a thousand people for ice hockey matches. The owner of the Thrashers and the Hawks was the main investor in the arena. Even with such a capacity to seat people, the arena boasts a total of ninety-two luxury suites and eighteen hundred and sixty-six club seats.
When there is a concert at the Philips Arena it can host up to twenty-one thousand people since the stage is smaller than the basketball court. The Arena was ranked the number one place to hold a concert or any other similar event in America in the first six months of the year 2009.
The layout of the club seats and luxury suites is peculiar in the sense that they only line one side of the court or stage, leaving the remaining sides to be filled by the general admission seats. The idea, though contrary to modern planning in other Arenas, was implemented so that all the seats could be closer to the main area of performance.
