Popular pinky pet spider, “the Pink Toed Tarantula” also known as Martinique Pink-toed Tree Spider are found in Martinique, Guyana, French Guiana, Brazil and many other regions throughout the Amazon Basin. Guyana exports these pretty, pink toed spiders having binomial name Avicularia versicolor.
These toed tarantulas are small in size having long thick hairs. The length of the hair in male tarantula is up to 9cm while in females, it reaches about 13 cm but the most interesting and surprising thing is that, in this species males are to some extent brighter though in most tarantula’s male stay smarter and smaller. These species are furry and fine in looks and they are available in charming dark black to metallic gray colors and the beautiful pink color of their foot tips makes them most distinguished and attractive. Their life span extends from 4 to 8 years and they usually get maturity within 2 to 3 years.
It’s very interesting to keep these pink toed tarantulas as pet. They have very violent eating habits and their favorite feed is cockroaches, crickets, beetles, grasshoppers, moths and other flying insects. They are very adjustable and can easily continue to exist in human make environment. They are very friendly and never strike or harm like other species and always love to stay in groups. They need the temperature between 78° to 82° F and 65 to 75% humidity level.
They are very naughty creature so can easily jump whenever one keep them in hands so its need to be careful while handle them. Humidity level is essential for their growth and it often requires adjustment in the human made environment.
