I have just watched the trailer of upcoming romantic comedy “Pirate Radio” and I am hooked! The movie is about the people for whom music is their food their breath and well their whole life. In 1964 all you can hear was 2 hours of pop music on radio. These 2 hours became much anticipated time. People went crazy as the music started. And Bingo! Something unusual – extraordinary happened.
Directed by Richard Curtis of “Love Actually” the cast of the film include Nick Frost, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rhys Ifans, Kenneth Branagh, Tom Sturridge, Bill Nighy and Talulah Riley. The film is based on actual events that occurred when 8 Rock N Roll DJs took it to high seas. The plan was to anchor the ship (named Radio Rock) just outside the British jurisdiction to avoid from coming under the British Law. Their 24/7 music stream went on to become the heart throb of teenagers. They listened to channel while in bed, at play grounds, at picnics in short everywhere. Meanwhile British Government kept on brandishing their music as demoralizing and third grade not only that, they embarked on a mission to deal with the band. A law called Maritime Offences Act comes into effect to shut the station.
With the music that would take your heart away like Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, a strong plot and brilliant comedy, the movie is must see. The film’s span is 135 minutes and its release date is set at 13th November. Peter Travers of Rolling Stone has commented, “A Rip – Roaring Comedy”.
