Nobody can deny our Neanderthal past but being human is about controlling and channeling our animal drives. We are human because we chose to be so and chose to part our ways from animals. Whole fabric of society is built around the institution of marriage and being loyal to the partner, but obviously there are others who don’t believe in this.
ABC has aired a story about a man who made the animal instincts a business. He helped married couples to find extra marital relations. In a bizarre revelation he told that he helped his wife to build homosexual relationships with a woman. A Polyamorous relation is one in which a partner chooses extra marital relations and the relations may involve homosexuality. The abundance of polygamous and Polyamorous relations raises an obvious question, whether we are born to cheat? Or is monogamous relation not natural for human beings?
Obviously the polygamous and Polyamorous couples argue that man is not monogamous at all and monogamy is just a society’s imposed limitation and the example is quoted of primitive man who lived in the cave and his stature in primitive society was determined by the number of wives he had. But what is lacking in the argument is evolutionary process itself. Primitive human started to evolve into homosapien. Humans chose monogamy because it offered many benefits over polygamy and more suited to the evolutionary needs. Self discipline let us involve into a society that has never been seen by human history previously.
WOULD IT MAKE ANY SENSE REVERTING BACK TO THE WAYS OF PRIMTIVE NEANDERTHALS?
