Poodie Locke has performed his duties for Willie Hugh Nelson American country singer-songwriter, author, poet and actor as stage manager for 34 years. Poodie was his nickname which he was recognized with since his childhood. Once telling the secret of his nick name Poodie Locke said I don’t know, I guess I got this nick name, because I was a mess. In his extra or spare time Poodie Locke used to play golf. Poodie use to say that a rolling stone gathers neither dirt nor moss. At the age of 12 he met Willie Hugh Nelson in Waco, Texas.
Poodie’s real name was Randall Locke. Once in an interview Poodie Locke told the interviewer that 275 days per year touring all around the country has kept him young.
Poodie’s slogan for life was “There are no bad days” but I am afraid I might have to tell you the bad news about poodie Locke. He died this afternoon at about 3 p.m. after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 54 years old.
Manager at Hilltop Bar and Grill Bryan Dixon said that EMS was called around 2:00p.m. In the afternoon because he was not feeling well, the ambulance got there in time but Poodie collapsed and was not being revitalized by the EMS.
Poodie Locke was the owner of Hilltop Bar and Grill in 1952 he was voted the Most Beautiful Baby in Waco. His sense of humor was exceptional and was known for it, he was generous and a big supporter for Austin’s local artists. Many of most famous artists have played gigs at Hilltop Bar and Grill.
Arrangements for his Funeral are yet to be made. May his soul rest in peace.
