Federal holidays are mostly a pleasant surprise for United States residents. There are ten federal holidays for this year. Today is one of them .The Presidents day is celebrated on the third Monday of the month of Feb. every year. It is celebrated in the memory of Washington. The day was first celebrated a hundred and twenty years ago. Initially it was celebrated on the original birthday of Washington. Later on it started to be celebrated on the third Monday of every Feb.
Today it is being celebrated with national spirit. Some schools and colleges are open on Presidents Day 2010 and some are not. Almost all of the banks are closed due to federal holiday on Presidents Day 2010. People have been surfing on the internet for answers to questions regarding opening or closing of federal offices. Many people who are expecting to receive important mail are waiting for postmen. Well as it is a federal holiday no mail shall be delivered today.
Most of the business concerns are open today. There are car sales held today and special discounts are given. The Presidents Day 2010 should be celebrated by memorizing the great contributions of George Washington to United States of America. He was the man who has the biggest hand in the formation of United States of America. He was born in the eighteenth century. He fought for eight years for the freedom of America. After leaving the presidency he spent his leisure time in farming. He died two hundred and nine years ago. The city of Washington was named after him.
