A 1968 thriller which was remade in 1995 based on a novel with the title, “She Let Him Continue”. Pretty Poison is considered the best work of Noel Black. The film is still relevant with its powerful plot and impeccable acting by Anthony Perkins and Tuesday Weld. As a matter of fact Anthony Perkins played the role of a neurotic man so well that he was unable to get the character behind him, all his career.
Anthony Perkins played the role of Dennis Pitt. Dennis is mentally upset person and basically belongs to a mental hospital and is out only on a parole. He is attracted towards a young cute cheerleader. Not wanting to tell her truth, Dennis tells her that he is a spy and is on a secret mission. Sue Ann is immediately hooked. They both go out to pursue the secret missions. Their mission together results in a killing. Dennis becomes stressed over the killing but for Sue Ann it’s just an adrenalin rush. She tries to comfort Dennis by saying that they would escape to Mexico.
Dennis is apprehended by the police but he keeps the truth to himself for the reason that police officers won’t believe him and that Sue Ann would be caught soon for her criminal actions.
Film ends with Sue Ann becoming acquainted with another man and telling how her mother had confined her to home and how she was not allowed to go out in night. And we guess that she is not caught and is freely quenching her criminal thirst.
