PV Narasimha Rao Expressway is ready for inauguration. The motor way is specially designed for the high speed vehicles and not for motor-bikes, rickshaws or sluggish means of transportation. The expressway will be officially inaugurated on Monday and will be opened for traffic.
There is absolute restriction on parking on the highway. The P.V. Narasimha Rao expressway is more than 11,000 km long. The Hyderabad traffic police are given the mandate to strictly ban and take action against those vehicles whose entry is expressly prohibited in the recent traffic rules of the highway. An instruction manual is also issued to use the highway in conformity with the rules and regulations. The Hyderabad police said that the ban on certain type of vehicles was not with a discriminatory intent and the purpose of doing so is to avoid potential accidents. The law-breakers will have to face prosecution.
The traffic signs are installed at every desired place wherever necessary. The drivers are advised to understand and have record of different crucial spots on the expressway where it varies in width of lanes and gets narrow on these particular points. In These particular areas, only 40km per hour speed is allowed.
There has been utter disagreement on the naming of the highway after Narasimha Rao by Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen due to the fact that the person in question was the prime minister of India when Babri Mosque was crushed by Hindu extremists. But the government refused to do so.
