Rackspace on their Twitter page mentioned that the outage caused by a network problem. Rackspace also mentioned on their Twitter page that the network problem is caused our side their data centre facility.
2009 hasn’t been the smoothest for website hosting company “Rackspace” and learnitfirst. Com is one of the affected website not to mention TechCrunch, Mashable and several other big websites.
LearnItFirst hosts its Information technology training videos over a Rackspace server and due to an unknown problem site was unavailable it was then that they discovered about the issue. This was the fourth biggest outage this year for the hosting company “Rackspace”.
According to details Rackspace the hosting company’s Dallas data centre ran into a network problem this Friday afternoon making several hotshot website go down.
There was no confirmation available on the official Rackspace blog on Friday about the problem. Several big website such as TechCrunch and Mashable went to their Twitter pages and blogs to release their anger against Rackspace outage.
Although Cloud System Status blog for Rackspace said that “This is a networking issue affecting Cloud Sites in our DFW data centre.”
Rackspace outage and network problem lasted for almost half an hour from “3:44 P.M to 4:15 P.M during the Friday afternoon.”
As we told you before this is not the first time this year that Rackspace got into trouble in June this year a power failures caused an outage in a data centre, while the second power failure struck Rackspace data centre in July this year which also caused an outage.
Then in November due to a power related issue Rackspace Cloud Sites and Slicehost went down and now in December an unknown network related problem caused an outage which is not good for company and its reputation.
We suggest that Rackspace should consider taking more precautionary measures in order to avoid such embarrassing moments in future.
