Muslims from all over the world are now preparing themselves for the Ramadan 2009, which probably will be on tomorrow or the day after tomorrow depends upon the moon. During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise until the sunset. During their fast, they are not permitted to eat anything even water is also not allowed.
Dr. Asma Mobin, who is an author and Ohio pediatrician said, “Non-Muslims tend to view the denial as hardship”. She is also serving as president of the “Council of American-Islamic Relations”.
Muslims face the struggle and challenges of not drinking and eating anything. Even upon this, the view about fasting is completely different in the Muslim Communities; which is trying to become an excellent person but not only fasting. They think it as a great time for them.
Taha Ghayyur, who is coordinator of “Torontomuslims.com” replied a question regarding the official start of this month, “It’s a not an easy question to answer”. Torontomuslims.com is the “Muslim Information Portal”; which efforts to reform the information for the people.
“This year, it is pretty much between Friday or Saturday … and for some in Toronto, it could also be Sunday,” he said.
Scholars from North America set up a novel idea to determine the opening day of Holy Month by using scientific astronomical calculation. However, it depends upon the sighting of the moon, an easy method give by Islam. So let see when will the Ramadan 2009 begin?
