The interview revealed a lot about her personal life and her issues with boyfriend Chris Brown. Rihanna and boy friend Chris Brown recently had troubles with their relationship and Brown even physically abused her. The pictures got leaked showing Rihanna’s face after the assault. The leakage of picture and the news of her assault stormed the media and many raised question about the prevalent domestic violence in the society.
In her interview with Diane Sawyer, Rihanna talked about domestic violence, her family, and her relationship with Chris Brown quite openly. She told the host how she has grown up seeing her parents fighting with each other and her father beating her mother. Rihanna told the host during the interview that her father had hit her mother ‘several times’ and how she tried to control the situation by distracting them. She told that she used to break glasses and dishes to distract her parents and hence to stop their fights. She also told that she promised herself that she would never marry anyone like her father.
Rihanna fondly remembered her early days of relationship with Chris Brown and told Diane that he was her best friend. She described her relationship as poisoned with obsession and jealousy. She then talked about the incident which fueled fire between the couple. Rihanna confirmed the news that the text message from Brown’s ex-girl was the cause of the argument between the two. She told that Brown punched her and she started having trouble breathing. She also confirmed that Brown gave her threats to scare her.
Rihanna, who reunited with Brown in Miami for a short time, told why she went back with him. She said that she wanted to protect him as his fans were tuning against him. She also told that she never hated him but has made the decision to end the relationship with Brown.
