The Florida congressman Robert Wexler has decided to resign from congress seat. He had served for seven years as the member of congress but now he has some future undertakings to accomplish. He is an advocate and supporter of Israel and is known as “fire-breathing liberal”. He has good friendly relations with the President Barack Obama. He has the intention to focus on Middle East peace process by joining a think tank.
Wexler told in a conference that he will work as a director of Center for Middle East Peace and Economic Cooperation. But he will announce this publically as well at 10A.M on Wednesday. The news of his departure from congress was not totally disclosed until Tuesday but later on the congressman himself made a statement. “I’m still a little bit in shock over all this,” said stateman Sen. Jeremy Ring and told that he is going to contest the reelection anyway.
There are many candidates to contest the reelection e.g. Sen. Ted Deutch, Lois Frankel, and Stacy Ritter will surely contest the reelection. As soon as the resignation process is officially complete, a special election will be held to fill the empty seat. There could be very short time to raise money and launch election campaign which sometimes leads to erratic, hectic and confused competition.
Wexler is proud of himself as one of those who belong to “great generation” that suffered great depression and participated in Word War II.
