Roberta Flack is endowed with extraordinary and iconic voice in R&B, only the globe nearly did not find the opportunity to listen to it.
Roberta Flack was born in NC in 1937. Roberta Flack was an exceptional pianist, gaining a scholarship in music to Howard University while she was barely fifteen. While in the Howard University, she changed her prima of piano to vocalisation and turned into a helper music director of the university chorus group. Later on, she accepted the occupation of instructing at schoolhouses in Washington, and earned additional income by giving piano lessons. She played the piano for opera house vocalists at DCs Tivoli club.
In a DC concert, the pianist McCann got hold of her vocalisation and organised a tryout a record company. Roberta Flack contracted with the recording label and brought out her 1st record album. The record album was a not a moneymaking hit till, in 1972, Clint Eastwood selected a song of the album for the soundtrack to his cinema flick. The single afterwards skyrocketed the whole way to the top of the Billboard charts. This was a big step for Roberta Flack’s career.
She teamed up with instrumentalist and music producer Donny Hathaway on a chain of hit songs. Then, all by herself released her big hit called Killing Me Softly with His Song. Roberta Flack won the Record of the Year Grammy award for this song along with another one. She persisted in giving hits in the eighties.
On Sun’s fifty-second Grammy Awards, Roberta Flack got together Maxwell on the stage to sing an edition of Where Is the Love.
