Coming to an awe inspiring conclusion on the last day of February the winter Olympics saw the closing ceremony in front thousands of people who had gathered to see the celebrations. The Olympic flag was passed onto Sochi, the Russian country that will host the next winter Olympics in four years. The Canadians made the last day of the winter Olympics worth their while as they took home the ice hockey gold medal winning from the American team by just one score. The Russian National Anthem was performed at the closing ceremony when the Olympic flag was passed on to the mayor of Sochi, Anatoly Pakhomov.
The Russian National Anthem was viewed by a large mass including a hundred and fifty dignitaries who will be involved in organizing the Olympics in Sochi in 2014. The Russian National Anthem is an adaptation of the anthem that was used for the Soviet Union between the years following the Second World War till the nineties. The composition for the original anthem was done by Alexander Alexandrov while the words to the anthem were altered by Sergey Mikhalkov.
The resort city of Sochi is based on the coastline that touches the black sea and is a really beautiful city of nice springtime weather through most of the year. In the year 2006 Sochi made it to the final three cities that were nominated for hosting the winter Olympics in the 2014, a year later it won the title of the next city to host the winter and Paralympics. Since then much work has been underway at the city which is being prepared for its first ever hosting of the winter Olympics.
