Fire started into a Russian nightclub and almost 109 terrified club goers were crushed to death in a stampede.
According to the details, fire broke out in a Russian nightclub at 2315 local time (1815 GMT). The Lame Horse nightclub is located in the Russian city of Perm, 870 miles away from Moscow. The fire broke out in the pyrotechnic fountains which were installed on the stage. The fire filled the club with black clouds of smoke. According to the witnesses, the fire spread immediately. The fast-spreading fire made the crowd panick, said the witness. The panicked crowd led to a stampede as there was only one exit door and a huge crowd was heading towards it. The crowd started breaking the doors to get out of the smoky club. A video, which was recorded by one of the club goer, showed that initially light flames broke out and the host asked the crowd gently to leave the club. But seconds later, the fire just spread into the club and the hall was engulfed with smoke.
Police and rescuers are taking the victims on stretchers from the club. More than 130 injured persons were taken to Moscow hospitals through planes. The Russian officials have confirmed more 109 deaths. It has also been reported that most of the injured persons are in critical condition. Police has arrested the club owner and manager.
The nightclub was celebrating its eighth anniversary. It has been reported that Russia has very poor fire management facilities and many deaths occur due to similar incidents year round.
