Rust Wier was one of those for whom music is not an option it’s a compulsion. He was born with the talent. Starting from his father’s restaurant he went on to join Austin Cosmic Cowboys as drummer. At a tender age his father bought him a pair of drums and then they had to find him a soundproof room 1 he once remarked with his typical sense of humor.
Rusty Wier 65, died of cancer on 9th October, 2009. He was diagnosed with the liver cancer in 2007 and was on chemo.
Starting his career as drummer, he started experimenting with guitar as Lavender Hill Express band broke up. His biggest break came with the hit “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance,” in 70s. He won the laurels of double platinum.
Starting as professional at age of thirteen his talents really knew no bounds. He was a guitarist, drummer, song writer but above all he was a master entertainer. He was cast for doing the advertisement on radio and T.V for many popular consumer brands like Mc. Donald’s. Rusty Wier was sure to make his audience smile, the people close to him are advising the fans to cherish his achievements in life and “go dancing because that’s what he would have wanted”.
His first contract was with ABC records. He subsequently signed contracts with Columbia records and 20th Century. He has passed his talent to two sons – Bon and Coby Wier with whom he has written four songs.
