Senator Ben Nelson (D) of Nebraska has shown his consent to vote for the health care reform bill. Harry Reid is succeeded to vow in Ben Nelson after meeting him on Friday.
Senator Nelson however made his vote conditional by adding that federal funds will not be used for abortions. Senator Nelson however declared it a historic achievement by reaching to the proportion of 60-40 in such a complex bill.
Senator Nelson equaled the legislation of the health care reform bill with Civil Rights Act of the last century thus giving this bill a landmark position in the legislative history of America.
Senator Nelson’s meeting with Harry Reid ended the deadlock. Harry Reid has now released the hefty 2074 pages bill to meet his self imposed deadline of passing the bill before Christmas.
It looks as Senator Nelson followed the tone set by President Obama who termed the bill Patient’s Bill of Rights.
The $848 Billion health care plan is devised to protect more than 31 million Americans that are uninsured thus providing them with health coverage. The plan would extend benefits for the poor Americans. It includes thousands of dollars for the coverage of low income Americans.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has given Republican stance that people are virtually crying for not to pass this bill.
The polls show a 51% opposition and 31% support for the bill.
