Investigators have found a body in Georgia, Landfill and believe that it is the body of the seven-year-old girl Somer Thompson. Somer Thompson who lives in Clay County, Florida, went ahead of her friends while on her way back to home from school and went missing. Somer was returning from school with her friends and siblings but went ahead of them and never reached home. Police started investigation the case which they called a missing person case and issued an Amber Alarm as well. The investigators interviewed several sex offenders who live in the same community. Somer who went missing on Monday was believed to be taken far away from the community. The investigators found the child’s body in Landfill, Georgia which is 55 miles away from Clay County, Florida. The birthmarks and clothes told the investigators that the body is of Somer’s. An autopsy is scheduled to be done to confirm the identification.
Clay County Rich Beselr, who informed the child’s mother about her death, says that it was one of the most difficult calls of his career. Diena Thompson, mother of Somer Thompson, was shocked and extremely distraught. She attended a vigil in the memory of her daughter on Wednesday night in the neighboring community. One of her neighbors’, Anna Bradyy, told Good Morning America that Diena was in ‘total shock’.
Investigators are looking for the crime prosecutor. Sheriff Rick Beseler says that the police have interviewed 150 sex offenders who live in the 3-mile radius of Clay County. But it has been reported that the number of sex offenders is much larger than that. A recent report published by a news paper has revealed a shockingly large number of registered sex offenders living in Florida. The report also mentioned that most of these sex offenders are predators -which involve child molesters. Many community members living in Jacksonville and Clay County have raised their concerns about such a high density of sex crimes in the community.
