It was always a curious thing for me when I would see shamrock pictures and then see them related to good luck but now as I read more about the history of Saint Patrick’s day the relation becomes clear. The thing is that Saint Patrick who was abducted at an early stage in his life, made it back to the island after escaping from it to spread the teachings of the Bible to the people of Ireland and then he was a bit confounded about how to spread the message of the holy trinity so he picked up a three leafed clover and used it as an image to explain how the three leaves of the clover were just different parts of the same whole and when they combined the gave the plant shamrock its wholeness.
Shamrock pictures are being searched all over the world on this day and the image is also the national image for the Republic of Ireland which can be seen on their national flag. The whole idea behind the Shamrock was that it was the plant that aided Saint Patrick in spreading Christianity in Ireland.
As you step out on the streets today you will see Shamrock pictures everywhere, especially in a region that is more densely occupied by Irish people or people with an Irish background. The internet has the very typical pictures on it which are common to find anywhere and it is these pictures that are being printed into large posters to hang up in Irish bars where a pint of Guinness is the most favored drink of the day.
