The 8-years-old Shiloh Pepin was born with a rear syndrome known as “Sirenomelia or Mermaid Syndrome”. She may have Fused Legs but much better Sense of Humor than most of us. She is one of three identified kids in the world living with this rear and fatal Mermaid Syndrome.
Sirenomelia or Mermaid Syndrome is a very uncommon congenital malformation in which the legs are fused together, giving the look of a mermaid’s end. This state is found in roughly one out of every 100,000 live children and is typically deadly within a day or two of delivery as of complication linked with irregular kidney and bladder growth and function.
Shiloh Pepin has beaten the odds and that is what she does best. Shiloh is a good-humored girl from Kennebunkport, Maine. She is an honest and outspoken child who loves to be the hub of attention. She sings with pleasure, sketches with style and by no means misses any chance for a high-quality intelligent break.
Since Shiloh is at continuous jeopardy of infection from her complicated digestion and waste-elimination systems, the surgical procedure to rather detach or remove her lower half is vital to her survival. She was born with a missing bladder, uterus, colon, vagina, only one incomplete kidney, and one ovary. Her parents at first expected that she would not survive more than few months. Finally deciding to initiate kidney transplant at the age of 4 months old, which went successful and lasted for several years then in 2007 a second kidney transplant, was also successful. Shiloh Pepin is attending Consolidated Elementary School nowadays.
