Just a week before Christmas a major snow storm is threatening to shut down all the East Coast air traffic. Authorities have also showed concerns over expected power failures. UAL has already delayed or canceled more than 100 East Coast flights.
The officials viewed that the flights were cancelled due to the strong winds and rains associated with the snow storm.
East Coast snow storm is expected to disrupt the flight schedule nationwide as the flights are inter related.
East Coast snow storm is expected to bury the ground under some 20 inches of snow. The present snow storm is being considered as the most intense after 2003 storm in the area which brought 27 inches of snow.
In the wake of present weather conditions the airlines were offering weather discounts to the customers.
Residents of the area have already been warned about the weather and associated conditions. People have been stacking ration in the homes to carry on during the harsh weather.
Snow Storm even forced President Obama to shorten his visit to Copenhagen where he was taking part in climate talks. The snow storm is especially disruptive as people are planning to travel during the vacations.
Virginia is already under an emergency warning and all the emergency services have been alerted.
The emergency warning caused very busy stores as shoppers tried to get all the shopping done before the conditions deteriorated.
Power companies had issued warning to the customers in the wake of expected power failures.
Though there are many vehicle accidents being reported, there is no fatality as yet.
