Words of irritation and anger are erupting from owners of the Sony PS3 the world over as yesterday brought with it some bad news for the manufacturers and the users of the console. A ‘glitch’ in the system, as the company puts, it has disrupted connection to the global PS3 network. More than thirty-eight million people have been disconnected indefinitely from their source of downloads and multiplayer action and the company says that work is underway to bring the gamers back on the network.
The Sony PS3 has two models, the older one which is the one most widely used and then the newer model called the Slim. The network problem is sticking like a plague to the older version but still hasn’t affected the PS3 Slim. The slim was officially announced just a little over six months ago at the Gamescom press conference while its release to the market was made in September last year.
The Sony PS3 was first released at exactly seven in the morning and people in Japan could be seen forming long lines outside stores when they hadn’t even opened. The stores found a creative solution to the problem and said that a lottery would decide who got the Sony PS3 and didn’t. The launch was made on the eleventh day of November in the year 2006 and within the first twenty-four hours of the launch the company had sold eighty-one thousand six hundred and thirty-nine Sony PS3 consoles.
For those of you who were part of those fanatics queuing for hours outside the outlet and haven’t left sight of your console for longer than a day since you got it, stay tuned to the company’s blog where an update might just come any second… if you’re lucky!
